[Best of Boards]  [BoB for Bunnies] [Tealited Tidbits]

3/5/99

I got an e-mail about a week ago from a kind lady that is in another home based business.  She had read a post of mine that really touched her and now wanted to join [company] under me so that she would be in my unit.  I wrote her back and thanked her for the kind words and asked her where she lived.

My first IMPULSE, was to next day air her a consultant agreement and make plans to get her a starter kit!  As it turns out, she lives about as far away from me as you can get!  My next IMPULSE was to look up a leader to adopt her in. What a lucky day, to have someone ask me to join [company]!  Then as fast as the excitement hit me, it left!

An IMPULSE! Think about your IMPULSE Hank, I thought to myself.  Just what is a "FIRST IMPULSE" anyway? IMPULSE is, "A sudden wish or urge that prompts an unpremeditated act or feeling; abrupt inclination. "  IMPULSIVE is, "Inclined to act on impulse rather than thought."

Oh yes, that was me! A sudden wish that I had put no thought into at all! My thoughts were IMPULSIVE! Maybe I should think first. What have you done in the past on your first impulse?

Well, I used to get all fired up over other peoples post and my first impulse was to send them a letter back!  I have stopped that, as I sent out a few letters in the past that I wish I had not! NOW, I try to think before I make a donkey out of myself! I often buy things on my first IMPULSE!  Well, I used to that is!  I soon realized that I was wasting money that way and think first now. I can't forget my IMPULSIVE phone calls that I made, well maybe I should!  It seems that I almost never make good choices on my FIRST IMPULSE so I need to look at this long distance sponsoring thing a little more!

Can I promise her that she will get all the help she needs? NO!

Can I give her MY FULL attention and help as her unit leader, after all, that is what she wants?  NO!

Can I reflect all the good [company] has to offer her over the net and phone?  NO!

For her, It is not the best idea for me to sponsor her!  I live in Ohio, my region is in New Jersey and she lives in Washington State.  What happens at the end of a party and she needs answers fast?  It is only 10:00pm for her, but 1:00am for me.

I'm adopted myself and am so blessed to be swooped up by Beth Vesco-Smith and all the wonderful people in STAR GAZERS!  However, not all people in [company] are Beth Vesco-Smith!!!  I hear from time to time stories that prove the point.

What she needs is to be sponsored be someone near her home!  That way she will be a part of the team %100!   Her leader can dovetail her parties when needed!  I would never be able to do that for her. My unit leader would love to help me out, but all her parties are in New Jersey and of no use to me.

In Florida my leader was long distance sponsored as well, and handed down the [company] info to me as she remembered it from a phone call. Have you ever played the game when you tell a story to a person and they pass it along till it hits the end? You get the picture! She deserves to have her unit leader close by so that she can get things first hand.

I know that many of you have sponsored people long distance. Can you honestly tell me that you are as aware of all there needs as you are those of your close by unit members? Can you honestly tell me that you know for a fact that they are getting the full [company] experience?

I want her to "HAVE IT ALL" and I'm not the best person for her. I asked her to go to the [company] home page and ask them for help near her. I wish her the best and pray that she ends up with a leader as fine as all the leaders I have. I would have loved to sponsored her, but I would have been the only person to gain from it.

Will I ever sponsor people long distance? YES! But not on an IMPULSE. I want it to be well thought out and planned for. When I know the person well enough to be able to offer them all the best [company] has to offer them, you bet I will. Many people have done it in the past and done it well. One day, my mom and my sisters will be in my unit! I haven't given up hope yet!

Enjoy your day, Hank
