[Best of Boards]  [BoB for Bunnies] [Tealited Tidbits]

These questions came to me from a fairly new consultant who had been sponsored long distance and is struggling to find answers to some pretty basic questions. Connecting with her leader has been unsuccessful, so she reached out to the lists and the BIG Pl family online. They are questions that get asked repeatedly in different forms over and over again. Though the answers can also be found (mostly) in the manual, it sometimes helps to hear the answers in good old plain everyday language! -Belinda

Okay here are my list of questions......

1.  Do you use a card table???  (I do)  How many pieces do you think I should use at my shows??  (down at the bottom of the email I will list the items that I bought)
Yes - usually I have one in the car - but I do ask the hostess before I go if she has one that I can use. But if I get there & it's huge, I can get mine out of the car.

2.  How long do the "ball" candles burn???  Do they burn down to a "flat pancake"???  Is there a certain way we should burn them???
My understanding is 30-40 hours. I have found through personal use though, that they burn best if you don't burn them more than an hour or two at a time. No they don't burn flat like a pancake, different ones burn differently. The logger you burn them at a time, the flatter they will become, but if you burn for shorter periods, they will sort of "hollow out" and glow through the sides. They aren't my favorites to actually burn, but I do like them for decorating, as many people do.

3.  Floaters...so can you buy 2 scents???  In the catalog it says... (set of two colors) so can I buy honeydew and strawberry???
No - Floaters are available only in all vanilla, or in Lemon/Kiwi set. Those are the only scents the floaters come in.

4.  What do you carry all your display items in????
I bought a wonderful soft-sided rolling duffle at Sam's Club last summer (they do still have them I know) for 17.95 or 19.95. You would think it wouldn't hold up - but I packed my clothes in it for the flight to Washington DC last July for conference, it went through the airline baggage dept just fine, and it has been to EVERY SINGLE show I have done since July. It is in perfect shape, just don't overfill it or you might pop the zippers. Of course, remember, I don't take the company store with me...everything I take fits in this bag - 1 bag - 1 trip.

5.  What is in the sponsor packets..if I ever get a sponsor...(a smile from me to you)!!!!
My sponsor packets have a rolled up catalog, a YCHIA brochure, a tealight, a box of matches, and my business card on a magnet. It's all tied up in a pretty cellophane gift bag, looks very festive & makes a "crinkly" sound...people all want to know what's in it.

6.  If at all possible could you outline a show that you would do???  For example...how do you start then you do your presentation..and so on.
There is a page on my website with one of my sample show outlines on it. I am getting ready to do another one that is MAJOR Back to the Basics, but the one that is posted is fun and covers all the points, especially if you are new.

7.  Do you have anything on your table besides our merchandise???
Business cards, votive organizer, current hostess special flyer

8.  Are you doing anything special for valentines day at your shows???
Me personally, no, but many people are and are very good at themed displays. My credo for this year is MAJOR Back to Basics, I change the color of votives I burn on the table, but that's about it. If you haven't already joined any of the lists, I would really recommend one or both of these at onelist.com - candleparty & candlecyberunit. Lots of sharing of ideas on both lists.

Finally those are all of my questions that I can think of.  SORRY for being soooo loooong!!!  Oh here are the items that I have bought.
Galaxy
Clairmont tealight lamp
Mosaic tealight holder
Mosaic bowl
Floral tracery
Savannah lamp
Tea off votive holder (my husband LOVES to golf)
Solitaire candle holder
I have also purchased sky, meadow, Crème Carmel, orange sherbet...and I think that is it for candles in a jar
That's a pretty good assortment...just realize that just because you bring all of those items doesn't mean you need to talk about every one. Pick 5 items to talk about - just display the others. I don't light every candle either. Invite your guests to ask questions about any of the others, or to come up & touch, smell, etc. Keep it simple.

These are the items that I have besides the starter items.....Is their anything or versatile things that I can do with them????

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TRYING TO HELP ME!!!!  I really do appreciate it!!  One more thing how do I start to sponsor people???
Open your mouth & talk! Believe in the product, the company, and how excited you are to be doing this. Tell them how you got started - you really went out of your way to start in PL - most people don't! Most people who start PL start because the consultant who did their show asked them if they ever thought about doing something like this. Most people think about it at some point...not necessarily PL, but "something like this". Then you tell them how easy it is to try, and why wouldn't you start with no investment, lots of beautiful things in your starter kit, and an extra $3-400 for about 25-30 hours of part time work?
