I am so proud of the positive and sincere
responses to this person's request for information on the AOL board! We have had our share
of conflicting personalities lately on the message board on AOL, and a lot of
non-business-related posts that have resulted in hurt feelings. The following are the kind
of posts that the veterans of the AOL board wish they would see ALL the time, not to
mention how helpful it must be to a person trying to make a decision! 4/13/99
Last night I attended a friends [company]
hall party, the first time I've ever been
to a [company]
party. I really enjoyed myself, and had fun. Not to mention that I love
candles!!! I've booked a show, and am thinking about selling [company]. They explained to
me that once I've had 6 shows, I can get out, no questions asked. And my start up kit is
mine to keep. What really sparked my interest was the no money up front, no inventory, and
no deliveries. I'm just interested in hearing from you all who wish to respond on how long
you've been in the company, and how much money your bringing home weekly/monthly. Of
course, I know that depends on how many shows you do. I sell for another direct company,
and although I'm not ready to give that up just yet, I thinking about doing this also.
Thanks for your time!! Deb

Deb, I had a show on April 12, had $619 in sales and 5 definite
bookings and a possible
booking. My husband just lost his job, and since I couldn't afford to go to five shows as
a guest, I decided to become a consultant, do the six shows, and quit. I was honest with
my sponsor, who was also my neighbor and friend, and decided to do it - but, as I said,
six shows and quit. Didn't cost anything to try, I got $319 free, kept the kit, and
promised her any leads I got. Oh, one more thing that should tell you how I feel.....It
was April 12, 1995!!!!! I just celebrated my fourth anniversary with PL, and I wouldn't
trade it for anything. I've earned trips to Mexico, Bermuda and Hawaii, I've earned TONS of
free product, my four girls know what it's like to have a mom around pretty much full
time, my husband is my biggest support, I've met several wonderful PL people both on and
off line!!! My confidence has soared, I've learned to set goals, I've learned to pick
myself up after a "defeat" and move on. And, by the way, the money's pretty good
too. Give it a try, you have nothing to lose, and so much to gain.

Hello Deb! I was going to IM you, but know you had just been IM-ed, so I didn't
want to bombard you! I just wanted to let you know that I have been with PL for 1.5 years
and I LOVE IT! I also work at a pharmaceutical company in research (my "brain
job")- I picked up PL simply as a social thing. And I would have quit if I didn't
absolutely have passion for

That is so funny! Your story almost mimics mine!! (Except you got a year jump on
me!) I held a show in Feb. '96, told my sister I would do six shows so she could earn a
trip to Cancun & I could get all of the free product!!
I was only in it for the candles ... and then I sponsored my sister-in-law my first
month!! The sponsors followed like crazy!! (I think it had something to do with how much
fun I was having! Everyone thought - why not?! I always told my story - so they knew they
had nothing to lose!) I promoted to UL in Oct. '96 ... and I've been having fun ever
since!! I went to Bermuda, Hawaii, and I'll be kicking up sand in Aruba next month!!
Isn't this a great place to be??
Thanks for sharing, Linda ... oh yea ... to the original poster: Please give

How I stumbled across [company]...I had received an invite for a friends
party. It was a hall show, had never been to this hall, nor had I ever been
to a PL demo. But wanted a night out, to have fun.
There were 5 consultants there with the unit leader. About 8 hostesses were
present with their guests. And the bingo game was fun!!
The demo was terrific, but as I was looking at the brochure, I couldn't decide
on what to buy. You see, I love candles, I burn them 24/7. But at that
point in my life, the checkbook was really hurting. So I think I purchased a
jar candle, just to help Denise out.
They explained to the room the opportunity, and it was like a light bulb went
off inside my head!! I thought to myself, "dummy, you should be selling
this!".....like I said, I love candles, but was tired of the cheap candles
not burning properly.
I especially loved the no start up, no delivery, no inventory. After 6
shows, quit if I want to. But I get to make money, and get to keep my
starter kit, if I decided it wasn't for me. Denise and I looked at each
other, and said, "we can do this!"...
Had my starter show on April 28,99, only expected 6 people, ended up having
15!!! One booking, and my show sale was over $450.!!! Lots of free stuff to
supplement my starter kit!!
I truly felt gods calling to this great company. See, PL was everything my
current other home business is not....I'm not going to name this company,
because I don't believe in bashing....but I had to pay $100. to start up,
plus purchase my inventory. Made deliveries, and yada yada yada....
I pray to god every night to make my next show my best, and to open the door
for another booking. So far he was been faithful and answered my prayers. I
truly believe now that God is my partner, and with his grace, I will
succeed!!!
Much success to you all!!!
