We've all had them...the good,
the bad, and the ugly...here are some of the more memorable shows that
have been shared on the lists and boards. Sometimes it helps to know
you're not alone in your experiences! Although I always try to give
credit where credit is due, I think it best to leave these stories
anonymous to protect the innocent bystanders who may have since joined the
direct sales ranks!
This wasn't a first
show, but still bears mentioning!
I had a show last Friday night, about 10 people there. We went
around saying our name and favorite candle scent. Well, 9 out of 10
people didn't burn candles and didn't really say a lot of favorable
things about them! Candles are too messy & they don't smell were
the complaints. I went through the show emphasizing our candles and
how great they were, no smoke, burn away completely, smell all the
time, etc. When it came to ordering, the show is currently at $250
in sales with a possible booking.
The interesting thing was that one guest ordered
the Quilted Crystal Pr and a dozen candles and said that I would
hear about it if the candles didn't do what I said they would! Well,
the next morning, she called and added another dozen votives to her
order and gave me 3 referrals - 2 daughters and a
daughter-in-law all out of state! She had talked to one of her
daughters who said that the party sounded interesting and asked her
for more information!
So, I guess the moral is, always, always, always keep a positive
attitude and meet those objections because you never know what will
happen!!!! |
My first hostess had 2 people in
attendance and 1 showed up 1/2 an hour late. (Ugh I thought).
I did the show anyway, as practice. The show sales from these
2 guests was under $50. The hardest part at that show for me
was trying to play games and pass out party bucks to get the 2
guests involved and talking.
My hostess then got busy the week following her party and ended up
with $405 in sales. She rebooked so it wasn't a complete dead end as
far as bookings went.
And after doing several shows I also was able to get rid of my
"notes"! |
One of my shows last
fall was a $82 order, with 2 bookings. Started an hour late
because hostess knew so and so was coming and was an hour
drive away. Total of 2 guests. First booking was a book
show---$32 in orders. By this time I was very discouraged,
however the next booking was a show a 40 min drive from home.
Didn't really want to do it, but her invitation list was for 50 and
it did turn out great. Her show was a $500 show w/only 11
guests and had one booking. The booking was a $676 show with 4
bookings and I am still going with this circle (bookings keep coming
off each show). this was last Sept. Just goes to
show you never know:-) so always smile and love what you do.. |
I showed up at the hostess' home expecting about 6 or 7 people.
Unfortunately, there had been a series of deaths in their immediate circle of
friends that week, so no one was in the mood to go to a party. Well, two
women showed up. I was bummed but jumped right in and told them how great the candles were, and did a "small" presentation. I started getting excited when, every time I would show a piece, they would say, "Oh, I want one of those!" or "What a great gift idea!" and so on. Well, those two women ended up buying over $400 in candles! Wow! So you just never know!!!! |
