[Best of Boards]  [BoB for Bunnies] [Tealited Tidbits]

Just thought I'd fill you in on something that I started doing and to my surprise it has worked fabulous!!!  This was my idea and I didn't get it from anyone.  This is long so be prepared or just print it out.

I found these memo pads that have a $1000 bill on the front of them.  I then decided to use these instead of the door prize slips.  I made up my own questions.  I will explain.

At the beginning of my show demo I hand each one of my guests including the hostess one of the memo sheets with the $1000 face on the front.  I ask them to just hold it and I will explain later and I tell them to think about what they would do with $1000. and then write it down on the memo.  (Well, naturally everyone is talking, pay off bills, credit cards, even one said all she needs is a $1000 and her car would be paid off!!!)

I go around the room and ask them to tell me their name and what they would do with the $1000.  If they say, "buy alot of candles" I give them a tealight. This gets them talking.  Even the hostess!!

Next I do my show demo, and as I am going along I tell them if they really like a certain piece that is up on my table write it down on the paper.  I talk about sponsoring alot because I want to promote back out to Unit Leader.  (I have found that if all you talk about is candles, you will sell just candles.)

Last night I added the little game that someone suggested here.  Have two people volunteer to come up.  Mary Mall and Patty PL.  It was great!!  Thank you to that person. (By the way I used my hostess as Patty PL)  Any way, When I am finished I ask them to write their name, address, and phone #  with their birthdate. (I tell them on their birthday they will receive a candle with a 10% off coupon for anything in my catalog)  They get excited about this.  Especially if their birthday just past.  They want to know if they have to wait another year.  I tell them no, they will be getting theirs in the mail soon!! (I made up a belated birthday card  on my computer and sent a tealight in the new Ocean Mist scent with a 10% off coupon with a deadline, and a catalog)  I have had six parties since I have done this and so far five of the guests birthdays have passed Since January 1.  I have gotten two orders just from this already!!!  It works.

Here are the following questions that I ask and I tell them all they have to do is answer  yes or no.

1.  Did you like my demonstration?
(I then say,  "Rate how easy or hard my demonstration looks to you. 1 being easy (I can do that) to 5 being hard (I could never do that))

2.  Would you be interested in helping out your hostess tonight by booking a party in March or April .
(I  then say, "She will receive an additional $25 - $50 more in additional product just because you helped her out!!  (they usually look at the hostess and the hostess gives them the puppy dog eyes.  Watch her, it's so funny!!)) I've gotten at least two bookings from every show because of this.

3.  Do you know of anyone who likes candles or likes to have parties and receive free products??

4.  Do you make $25 an hour?
They usually say "Ya right!!  But there are some that do make this, so you have to share what you make as a leader!!   I then say, "I do", and then I tell them every time I do a Party my goal is to do a $400 show.  I do this because I want the hostess to receive at least $100 in free products and I want to receive a $100+ pay check.)  At this time I pass around one of my paychecks (copy) that just has one show on it, and naturally it is my biggest show!  I make copies of them.  This particular one is a $960 show which my profit was $240+ I made $67.20 bonus.  I tell them this particular night I made $60+ an hour!!  They all oooo and aaaa!!

5.  When was the last time you received a raise and how much was it?
I tell them this is just for their information and no one else will see this. (There might be co-workers at the party.) Many say 25 cents in one or two years!!  They are usually the ones who share this with everyone.  Any way  I tell them how I received a 49% raise in one month when I promoted out as a unit leader!!!  They are still ooooo and aaaaaing!!!  Then I ask them have you ever received a 49% raise in one month? I then pass around my very first Unit Leader pay check!! (you have to show them the proof or they won't believe it!)

6.  Would you be interested in sitting down for one hour over a soda or coffee to find out how [Company] could benefit you and your life!!
Believe it or not one party I had six say yes.  There were only 8 at the party.  I will give you the results later.   From the six shows I've done this,  I have had at least 1-3 say yes and I had only one party that no one said yes.    Some even wrote not right now!!!  (Set the appointments at the party or tell them that you can sit down with them after the party.  I did this at one of the parties and two said yes and two people that had said no sat and listened any way.  Both booked parties and the other two encouraged them!!  Even said they'd have a party for them)

7.  Do you know of anyone who is looking for a part-time job or who can use an addition income that you could share this opportunity with!!
("It's always nice to start with a buddy") Many said yes

8.  For a fun tie breaker, I want you to look around the room and write down who you think might be good at my job!!
It's incredible, they start pointing fingers at each other.  I tell them not to tell anyone who you picked.

It is taking a long time for you to read this, but trust me this just takes about five minutes to read.

I have them count how many yes's they have and then I give them a red ticket for every yes.  I give anywhere from 2 - 5 tickets to each person.  I then ask "who said they'd be interested in booking a party"  I give them a yellow ticket. I tell them maybe's don't count.  (I have yellow and red tickets) Then I put the other end of the ticket in something.  Then I draw a red ticket and give the winner a box of votives (I got votives at 2.00 a box from conference last year) or what ever you want to give.  They love it.  Then I do a few more drawings and give out a tealight to each.

Next I say ok who has a yellow ticket, (I have Lilac pillars from conference last year) and I draw a yellow ticket and give it to the winner. If no one books a party, I just say oh well, I bill have to save it for my next party and I show them what they could have one. I have even had someone change their mind and book a party just so they could get the candle.  (Don't let them  leave without setting a tentative party date)  Make them commit!!!  No date, no candle!!!  Those are my rules.   I have had the hostess in two occasions book again!!  You can give them what ever you want.  A wrapped votive is good too!!

Then I tell them it's time to shop!!!

Most will say, "ha, what about the tie breaker"  I say "oh, ya".  I tell them that I have to take back the $1,000.  I tally up the name in question 8 and tell the results.  The winner receives a free wrapped votive.  At this time she is feeling really good.  You know where to go from there!!  Two out of the six shows the hostess was the winner!!  (No hostess has turned her party into a starter show but they haven't said no!!)  And last nights party, the hostess is seriously thinking about it!!)

Now you have - the memo as your information about each guest!!  I have a program set up in Excel and I am keeping track of all the results.

Sorry this was long but this is the only way to explain it to you.  This has been awesome for me and I can't wait for my next party and my results. and I hope that it can be the same for you!!!
