Scavenger Hunt Demo Renee Ventrice,
TL, Lightening Region
Materials Needed: - roll of tickets with numbers at each
end - 2 to 3 prizes (I do votives, tealights, a pair of dinner candles)
After the guests are settled, I give everyone- including
the hostess- 10 tickets. Then I say "Ok, we're going on a scavenger
hunt! Don't worry (hostess)- we won't be searching your house or bugging
your neighbors for paper clips! This hunt is in the catalog! The object is
to get rid of as many tickets as possible: each time you're the first to
locate the item, you tear off 1/2 of 2 tickets and place them in the
basket. At the end of the show, I do a drawing for prizes!"
I read poem clues for various items; I mix it up so I'm
able to do my demo by explaining a bit about each item. After it's found,
every one goes to that page and ooohs and aaahhhs, it's great!
I do about 6 to 8 objects, and that usually take 20
minutes or so. Then I do a speed round where they have to answer
questions- the first to answer correctly loses another ticket. Here are a
few sample questions:
- Name two different uses for Ariana (tooth fairy,
ring holder)
- How many hours will a 3-wick last?
- Show me 4 different ways to use the Quilted Crystal
Pair
- Show me 3 items in my display that are in the starter
kit!
- What's the 4 booking gift? Try to make questions
pertain to sales, bookings and sponsoring!
At the end, I do the drawings! It's fast, easy, gets
everyone looking through the catalog and provides gift ideas they may not
have thought of.
Here are a few of the poems I use:
2000 is a special Year when many celebrate and cheer!
Graduation from college, or high school- of course-
For some it's a wedding, for others- a divorce.
This unique piece is the perfect way to commemorate that special day!
Find it now- shout it out- one ticket is gone, without a doubt!
Page 33
Absent minded? Can't decide? You need this fragrance at your side!
It's beautiful color and natural scent- will take you where your brain just went!
Page 23
Six hours a day, February till May, this candle will last- it's fragrance will stay!
The wax in our search can't be bought- it is free-
For a hostess with bookings- how many? JUST THREE!
A wick for each friend who wants products for free
By scheduling her own (PL) shopping spree!
Back cover *Here I say, " Now since you can't buy this piece- here's a chance to give up 3 tickets- decide now to book a show and
we'll earn this gift for you when 3 of YOUR friends date parties with me!"
Whether married for decades, or just starting out,
This piece represents what love is about.
Eternally united, yet two separate minds,
No more special gift, will you ever find.

She could be the tooth fairy, and among other things,
This porcelain beauty can hold your best rings.
A delicate piece- as a gift- is just right,
For any young girl who has dreamed of flight!

For whom 18 holes is a heavenly scene.
This holder reminds him of where he should go-

Scratch & Sniff Mail
Wow
what an awesome idea from the candlecyberunit list on onelist. Mary Cody
came up with a great way to spark new excitement with the new Indulgences
scents (or any scents) and your normal business card! We may be seeing her
idea featured in an upcoming Reflections magazine - but lucky for you - we
have it right here on the internet so you can start reaping the benefits
RIGHT NOW! Thanks Mary, for sharing your idea with us here online!
I had this idea that PL needed to have
scratch and sniff cards for us to send out in mailers when a new
fragrance was released. Well, I figured that wasn't on the horizon so I
started brainstorming on some way to introduce my customers to the
Indulgences line with a mailer. Here is what I did and MAN! did it work
well.
I took my computer generated
business cards, then melted a solitude votive in a glass measuring cup
(a double boiler or a pan of boiling water with the measuring cup in it
works well) then I dipped the end of each card in the wax and let it dry
on wax paper. I made pretty envelopes that say Indulgences! New
fragrance sample inside. I sent a flyer talking about Indulgences along
with a copy of this months Hostess specials and one of my
"fragrant" cards. I put a little label on the back of each
card that says, "Experience Solitude Here." I did a sample
mailing of 20. I followed up with phone calls and got 2 bookings, 3
orders and 2 people who want me to call back in April. I am so stoked!
Everybody
should try this. The people who got my mailers loved the fragrance
sample. It was something NEW! It wasn't expensive like mailing tealights.
I plan on doing one mailing a month.

Contest Update
Sorry - got
behind again and have not awarded the prizes in the Sponsor Tips Contest
yet as planned. Ah the joys of the upcoming 3-day weekend...catch-up time
is at hand. It may be Monday before it is finalized, since I am expecting
delivery of my new computer on Saturday - my good old Packard Bell has
just been coughing and stuttering a little under its increased load the
past 6 months.
Any thoughts on
subject of our next contest? Email your suggestions to me directly at belinda@bestofboards.com

Board blues (and reds LOL)
InsideTheWeb (the host for our public message board) has certainly been
having more server problems than usual lately. If anyone knows of another
good (free) public message board host please forward the web address to me
so I can check into it further. It may be time to look at another option
but I would not actually make a drastic change like that unless the format
could remain similar and still allow for the same or better administration
privileges.

Do you have it??? from candlecyberunit on onelist
Please take the following quiz:
1. When reaching for your checkbook
in your purse, do you first have to
remove Candle Care Tip Cards, YCHIA brochures, and tealights?
2. If someone asks you if you like Pineapple, is your reply,
"Yes, I prefer
the 3-wick!"?
3. If you light all of the candles in your house, do neighbors call
the
fire department?
4. When someone asks you what your favorite book is, do you answer,
"Buds
'n Blooms"?
5. When your child came home from 1st grade and asked, "Mommy,
what's 2+2?"
was your answer "2 booking calls and 2 sponsoring calls to help grow
your
business!"?
6. While making dental appointments, do you ask, "What day of
the week is
best for you?"
7. Has your 'I'll-finish-that-craft-someday' closet slowly
transformed to a
'I-might-need-that-discontinued-scent-someday' closet?
8. When someone invites you to a get-together, do you tell them
you'll need
to arrive about 30 minutes early to set up?
9. Do you think perfume should be made available in Honeydew, Sky,
and
Raspberry?
10. When asked if you like candlelight dinners, do you just laugh?
If you answered "Yes" to 3 or
more of these questions, you might have Party-litis! Unfortunately,
there is no cure, but treatment is available. What should you do?
Talk to your doctor... and nurse... and hairdresser... and bank teller!
Tell them about your business and ask them if they can help with your
"disease" by booking a party! Just like Alcoholics
Anonymous, you need a sponsor! Or two, or three! Fill your
calendar with appointments... there can NEVER be too many! If you
can't make it to all of your appointments, you can help a friend with
Party-litis by giving them one or two of your appointments! Attend
monthly support meetings... here you can be with others that have the same
condition! If there isn't a support group in your area, then you're
doing the right thing by being online... you can meet MANY others that
share this condition! Be careful, though... many have lost their
jobs to this disease! That's ok, though, as this can help
your condition! It obviously frees up more time to focus on your
Party-litis! Your family CAN help! They can get you bookings!
If you need more information, please don't hesitate to do a LOT of
research... you can get much of this research on a web-site that is
dedicated to people with your condition! It can be found at: http://www.bestofboards.com
and there is another site that can give you "quick fixes" when
you are concerned about shows. This site is http://pillarnet.partylite.com
! The good news is, that there are so many that share your
condition, and the information is so
organized, that each individual is assigned a number, so that it makes it
easier to access the information that you require! Good luck, and
remember that we are ALL here to help!

Book Ordering update
There's been some confusion regarding what size theme book pages you get
when you order one - please take a look at the Cover/Assembly page which
has been updated to hopefully clarify what you're paying for and
receiving. I never intended to become a copy center - it's only a service
provided if you have discovered how long it does take to do it yourself or
you don't have access to a printer! But it does take a long time to print
them - and a lot of color ink - so decide whether it's a better idea to
buy your own inexpensive printer before ordering a set of pages from me!
If you do need to order them - you can use either PayPal or X.com to pay
by credit card, or mail a check or money order. Details on Belinda's
Stuff page.

Message Board Problems
Apparently the Inside The Web server is having some
temporary technical problems - several of you have emailed me this morning
about problems replying or posting to the board. I tried and had the same
problem - here is what I was trying to post though and it is still good
advice (for when the board is back up LOL)
I always advise everyone to enter the message board not
from a bookmark, but from one of the links on a Best of the Boards page
under the page banners. Message board bookmarks frequently get corrupted
for some reason, and using the Message Board link that is provided on BoB
pages will always load the current Message Board page. I have never had
any problem on any of the 4 computers I regularly use, but I ALWAYS enter
FROM BoB, not from a bookmark. So Bookmark BoB - not the message board and
I think you'll be ok!
Check the board again later today - I'm sure it is only
a temporary problem. Belinda

Custom Designed Business Cards & Labels
I
have very unofficially been printing business cards and
labels for local consultants for the past year but last night as I was
re-designing my personal card, I finally came up with a great template to
share. This is not the launching of a new business in
any way shape or form, so if you want to copy the design and use it on
your own please feel free to do so. If you do not have access to a color
printer or a good printing program (I recommend Printmaster or Printshop)
to create your own cards, I have set up a page on which you can order them
from me. Please take a look - I'd love to hear comments and suggestions
for similar designs! Belinda
